During this course you will learn all the skills needed to dive confidently to a maximum depth of 18 metres, independently of a dive professional.
The SSI Open Water Course, is conducted by our highly qualified scuba diving instructors and is divided into 3 areas:
On booking the SSI Open Water Course, 2DiVE4 will send you your SSI Open Water Course eLearning code, for you to log on and complete the home study.
On completion of this course you will be awarded with the world’s most recognised diving qualification… The “SSI Open Water Diver”.
Full Open Water Course – 2 weekends
After you finish the home study, attend the first Saturday of the course. Review the theory, then set up the kit. 2DiVE4’s team will review your SSI Open Water Course eLearning at our Scuba School in Bishop’s Stortford, Herts. You will see all the dive gear, learn to set up your kit, and explore different brands and equipment variations.
On Sunday, travel to our pool location at Bishop’s Stortford College Pool or Polam Pool in Bedford. Your instructor will lead the confined water modules. Master around 24 skills during the 5 pool dives as 2DiVE4’s experienced team demonstrates each one.
This will then leave your four open water qualifying dives to do with 2DiVE4 the following weekend at one of our training lakes in Leicestershire or Capernwray. These locations offer plenty of training platforms and great facilities to support your skill development, provide a comfortable environment, and help ensure you meet all requirements for successful course completion.
Complete your four open water qualifying dives at our training lakes on the second weekend by diving twice each day. On these dives, your instructor will ask you to repeat selected skills you mastered in the pool, but now in a deeper environment.

Day 3 – 8am-5pm – Open water dives 1&2. Stoney Cove, Leicester all months except June, Aug & Oct (Lancs)

Students are required to bring their own mask and snorkel for hygiene reasons, which can be purchased at 2DiVE4.
If opting for the Dry Suit Course upgrade, a dry suit must be hired. The course is performance-based, and additional training may be offered at an agreed cost if the instructor deems it necessary for your skill development.
